As some of you good people will know, i have a savings pot for next years flying machine..........i have a nice S550 hex, but keep thinking bigger and folding, so i am tempted to go for a Tarot 680 next year, this would mean having to sell the S550, but in a way i am rather attached to this one as i built it all myself and it flies just great (needs a bit of fettle at mo) so do i keep the fast and agile 550 or go for a 680

A great deal depends on what you want it for, the Tarot is an excellent stable AP platform and is very good quality, the one you';ve got isn';t going to be as stable but definitely more agile.

I dug the 550 out after posting this, and got a lot of happy flight memories just looking over it, think i will get it back in flying trim and keep it, only benefit from 680 is ability to carry larger camera

I was thinking exactly the same thing, apollo. I enjoyed building the S550, and it works great with my cheapo action cam, but I';d like to build a bigger, more stable, fully-kitted AP platform.

The 680 looks good, and the ZYX-M FC is set up for dual GPS, automatic retracts and Tarot';s own 5D gimbal (I have NO idea what the two other ';D';s are used for!! )

I was also looking at a decent 4/3 camera, with a cable remote, so I can use spare radio channels to operate the camera and take some nice still shots. If I mount my FPV cam on the gimbal too, then I can use my screen to see where the camera';s pointing.

The good thing about the 550 is that it';s small enough to use in a hurry, yet stable enough to fix in place with GPS mode and get some decent footage. And it sounds great

Nice. Still foldable, too. Is it capable of lifting a 4/3 camera? One of my drivers for going >680 is to get a decent 4/3 on there.

No it wont lift a 4/3, i have a dinky mobius on it as its all i need, having a Phantom 3 the AQ600 is not a main filming rig
