Forgot to unplug it lunchtime and it';s now flat - idiot :-(

Is it buggered? Plugged it into my charger and it won';t charge just flashes low voltage so I think I already have the answer unfortunately grr :-(

it is possible to charge them from nothing but it has to be trickle charge for a day or so then wak it on the charger and balance it, i have recently bought a icharger http://www.giantshark.co.uk/icharger-106bplus-250w-balancecharger-p-404527.html its the best charger iv owned from being in the rc scene and does so many things and i can charge a 6000mah nano-tech lipo in 35 mins.

what charger are you running
dji f550, still running standerd running gear, with auora 9 controller, 2 x 6000mah nano-tech, 1 x 8400mah nano-tech, 1 x 5000mah turnigy, carbon gimbal with Aeroxcraft landing gear, gopro 3 black edition camera, and to top it off LED's all round for night flying (has to be done)

You can sometimes bring them back on a slow NiCd charge if the cell voltage is to low for a LiPo setting.

Just charge enough to get it back to 3.7 ish volts per cell and then charge as a LiPo again - but do so at your own risk as I will not be held responsible and always keep an eye on it as normal :whistling:

Hi Dp,

I did something similar with a brand new Turnigy Lipo a few weeks ago. When I plugged it in to my charger, it wouldn';t charge and came up with some error message. I thought it was dead. I then read something online and gave it a try and it worked amazingly within about 5 minutes. What I did was, change my charger to Nimh and 0.03amp and gave it a 5 minute charge. I then changed my charger back to Lipo 3.3a 3300mah 3S and it recognised it and charged it ok. So, definately worth you giving it a try. Apparently, the Nimh charge doesnt require the balance lead and doesn';t perform any check on the battery. Good luck.

Ive done this before and recovered flat lipo I used the nimh setting on the charger and just left it long enough to get the min voltage back in the pack as biffa did  ~~

As said above keep your eye on it at all times  :crossfingers:

Aw brill thanks all will try giving that a go tomorrow. It';s also nice to know I';m not the only one that';s done it :)

I';m using this one http://www.overlander.co.uk/batteries-chargers/overlander-rc-6s-ac-dc-balance-charger-1283.html its got a built in ac power supply as well so I didn';t have to worry about that as well. Got it from my local hobby shop.

Damn. Wish I';d known this NiMH trick a few weeks ago. I binned a nearly new pack because I left my low voltage alarm plugged in by accident then went away and it flattened it. Just thought it was curtains. Straight in the bin. :-(

That';s what lots of people do.

Of course safety should be paramount but electricity is just electricity, it';s not different just because it';s in a different battery ~~

I nearly did too, then I thought at the risk of looking stupid (again) I';ll just ask if there';s any options for me. Glad I did now :)

I should know better. I';m an electrical engineer. Oops.

Brill looks like it';s saved :) I couldn';t charge as low as 0.03amp so I';m wondering if you meant 0.3amp. I tried doing it at 0.1amp the lowest I could. The first time I put it back to lipo the charger only recognised 2 cells so I put it back on nimh for a bit longer. Tried again when it was showing 10v and the charger now recognises 3 cells :)

AKA Biggles

I did the same flattening trick with a Turnigy 2200 3S, and managed to resurrect it by charging it through the balance lead one cell at a time using a 1S charger meant for my Walkera V120D. It took about a day and a half for each cell to show a green light on the charger, but it saved me from having to bin the pack. I';ve had about 15 flights since, and maybe I';ve lost a minute or so, but it';s still a result in my book.

I';ve used a similar technique to rebalance a pack that was so wildly out of whack that the charger was saying No way Jose. Used pins in the balance plug to isolate the offending cell, and charged it as a 1S till it was within spec for the charger to take over. Also recovered a few customers packs in the shop using the NIMH charge as well. Handy stuff to know. Just be damned careful though. Things can go very wrong, very quickly!!!

Ross

Wonder who is going to be the first to get burned out using this method
Let's be careful out there.
SAFETY is.. NO accident.

Sorry only just noticed your post, doh! I only got the error once I plugged the battery in and out did the battery check. Sounds like the charger might have a fault

pete-c

Put it on a 5amp charge for a 1-2 mins then charge it normally. It worked for me.
