AA batteries Li ion

Hi, Im new to RC, just got a Twister quad.
Now I';m a little surprised at how quick the TX gets through the batteries. It takes 6x AA batteries.

I use Li ion batteries for other things (bike lights & vaping), so I was wondering is there any reason why I shouldnt get myself some 14500 (which is AA sized) rechargeable Li ion (or maybe IMR depending on whats available) batteries for my TX?
These batteries are usually 4.2V fully charged with a decent charger & dont want to get below 2.8V else they';ve had it. & they can hold a decent amount of charge typically 700-900 mAh, & can handle between 5-7c discharge rate (although I havent specifically looked into 14500 batts, I use 18650';s which I know about)

I dont want to be spending a fortune on non-rechargeable batteries if I can spend a fortune on these sorts which will work out cheaper in the long run.

What wrong with the usual NiMH  rechargeables?
Let's be careful out there.
SAFETY is.. NO accident.

Well nothing I dont suppose, but I';ve never been happy with any NiMH I';ver tried & always gone back to using ';normal'; batteries. But with the bike lights & vaping stuff I';ve been impressed with the Li ion batteries.

Edit, the NiMH would certainly be cheaper to buy

When it comes to rechargeable';s Ive always used vapextech instants they work very well and dont auto discharge like normal nimh';s do  ~~

are these happy re charging using a stock tx charger via the jack plug or do you take then out and use a stand alone charger ?

I havent charged them with the standard tx charger but I would think they should be fine  ~~
I have a 8 cell battery holder and use the same charger I use for lipo';s but set to nimh,
they are quite happy charging at 1A  ~~

Thanks peeps, I';ll give these a try.

Ordered a set of these last week and used them over the weekend.

Much improved life over the nearly new NiMh they replaced and are charging well via the TX jack plug using the charger from my old Sanwa 35mhx

The NiMh were showing voltage drop from 11ish to 9v after flying out two lipos (so about 30min of tx on time) The Vapextech did 4 lipos yesterday plus load of time while i sorted out the vibration issue and only dropped from 10.9 to 10.2 all day

Some of that is probably because each cell has approx 500mah more capacity than the NiMh but either way for £12 a good improvement and security.

I just wired in a 3s into mine. Last ages and easy and quick to recharge with my standard charger. The cheap 2200 Tx packs you get (low amp rating) fit in the battery compartment fine.

As an alternative, you might want to consider NiZn batteries. They have to be charged with a specific charger. Maplin sell them and sometimes you can catch them on sale.

They do put out 1.6 volts instead of the usual 1.5 volts of a standard alkaline battery. However most alkaline batteries are 1.6 volts out of the box anyway.

I use these in my Spekrum Dx6i and am surprised always by how long they last and they don';t drain either when stored.
