DYS 1080p v's GoPro Hero 3 Black

Well, it';s an unfair contest I admit, but I thought I';d post yesterday';s mash-up for you';s to see for yourselves.

DYS 1080p test from Andy on Vimeo.</p>

I got the DYS from RadioC, they had a bit of an offer, so £70 odd seemed a fair price to pay for what appears to be a damn good second GoPro format camera.  I can';t use it in my H3 2D, but it should fit all other GoPro orientated accessories, like cases and frames etc, in fact it pop';s in my cheapo ';frame on the home-brewed gimbal perfectly.

See what u think?

Nice - I had already ordered one before you posted   Looking for something less expensive to lose than my £240 GPH3B.   I';m not really liking the Mobius that much and will probably out it.

Also , looking for something to use on the motorcycle I happened across the SJ4000 HD 1080P - again a GoPro format camera but this time with a built-in 2in screen.  So thats going to be a barrel of laughs with my eyesight!! At £59.65 from fleabay it is even more affordably losable (if such things are likely to happen).

Cool!  You could add a filter perhaps, to tone down the blue sky a little, but apart from that, I think these clones are certainly worth a look, as you say, losing £300';s worth of GoPro is something not to be contemplated!
It';s actually a tad lighter than the gopro, as i had to add weight to the other side of my gimbal!

Filming this, I found out how difficult it is to actually see the target, as they were below tree height, and somewhat camouflaged!  It put me in mind of those WWII dogfight';s, looked so easy on the films, but in reality must have been massively difficult to see ones enemy, plus not confuse him with your own!  A second or two to identify, line it up, then squeeze the trigger, how did they do it?   :o
I had to keep removing the goggles to see where the other quad was at times.

Hmm, I feel a shoot out coming along.  Will have to rig something up (ground based) to test all three side by side when they arrive.  I';ve already ordered a few 32GB microSD cards from MobyMemory on sale at £12.99 a pop.  They';re SDHC class 10 UHS-1 - so just about as fast a memory card as you can get  ~~

See here: http://www.mobymemory.co.uk/1015-sandisk-mobile-ultra-32gb-micro-sdhc-uhs-i-class-10-memory-card-619659078645.html

At the risk of sounding a MobyMemory shill  :whistling:  I';ve dealt with them for absolutely ages, probably more than 10 years and they';ve always come out tops. Not always the cheapest, but prompt sales and superb customer support for when things [rarely] go wrong.

Were you actually flying both aircraft?  Thats pretty amazing - I was watching the video on the train in to work today and was quite amazed and impressed  :bravo:

I';ve an SJ4000 and its great, however it has no video out for FPV.

There';s supposed to be a new version with WiFi that does support video out...

Image quality is pretty good as is colour rendition.

Hi Steve

I am recently advised that the SJ4000 can be updated in firmware to provide FPV via the USB port.   Although no word on how to.  And Chinese sellers [only] on EBay have started selling the specific FPV cables for them!

See: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2047675.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xsj4000+fpv+cable&_nkw=sj4000+fpv+cable&_sacat=0

NB: I found this from FoxOffer blog post about the various hardware and firmwares for the SJ4000
http://www.foxoffer.com/blog/2014/06/16/about-sj4000-camera-firmware/

THe DYS comes with a USB vga output  to standard servo plug for fpv hookup. I';ve yet to test this, but no reason why it won';t work tho!

Very interesting ... the DYS seemed to have much brighter colours and a smaller dynamic range and it was quite slow to adjust between light levels.

I like the look of the SJ4000 ... the screen on the back would be useful I think if being used for things other than Multirotors.

flybywire

Ok, next time I';ll get three craft in the air, honestly, things I do in the name of multi-rotoring & videography!
