Flyduino Quadrocopter Frame Set

I've just started putting my flyduino frame back together with the new arms i got in the post.

I took a picture of the damage after disassembling the frame so people can see how it took the impact. 1 arm is bent, 1 broken, 2 appear fine and everything else is undamaged as far as i can tell. Even the motors appear to be undamaged. It seems like the aluminium took most of the energy from the impact and saved everything else.

Must of been a heavy crash to snap it like that glad your getting it rebuilt and the main plates are ok  ~~

Finished the building; just got to tune and test fly it now. I'll do that tomorrow though.

Total weight - 472 grams with no battery - i expect that will rise slightly when i put the LEDs on.

Very nice looking copter and very light to it should be a good one looking forward to seeing the video  ~~

Looking good!

I purchased a nanowii to go on mine as well!

ice.

teslahed

The nanowii looks very nice;

http://flyduino.net/NanoWii-ATmega32u4-Based-MultiWii-FC_1

Very minimal in size - i bet it performs well on a small stunt quadcopter.

I put the warthox board on mine with an MPU6050 chip;

http://flyduino.net/MWC-Board-matt-black-v3-for-Pro-Micro

which is likely very similar though a little bigger and heavier.

Just managed the first quick test flight over my bed;

First test flight of the rebuilt flyduino warthox frame

It doubt I'll have to do much PID tuning - i took the board off an older quadcopter that had the same dimensions and a similar setup (the PVC quad).

I've added some lightweight landing gear i also got from the flyduino website;

http://flyduino.net/Heliskids-for-Quad

although i'm sure you can get cheap landing gear like that from loads of places.

It added 20 grams of weight but I've attached it with double sided foam tape and cable ties so it should be easy enough to remove if i change my mind. It's been a while since I've flown with landing gear so i though it might be fun for a change.

I've taken it out and run 2 sets of batteries through it - seems very well behaved so far;

I haven't done much PID tuning - just upped the rates.

Very nice Chris probably the best yet the lights really show up well in the day light to  :bravo:

Nice flying - you do have alot of LED's on that thing! Looking forward to getting mine as well now!
I could hear the flips but it was hard to see them!

ice.

teslahed

I got a video with the onboard camera;

It's a lot smoother than any of my other videos which i take to be a good sign.

Very nice flight and very good video, this is deff your best yet, you gotta love the flyduino quad frame  :bravo:

teslahed

Yeah I'd definitely say this quadcopter is flying more smoothly than any of the others I've got in the air so far.

I got another quick flight again this evening;

What camera do you have on there? is it a keyfob #11 type camera?

ice.

teslahed

Yeah, it's a slightly latter model - an 808 #16. They are quite well supported;

Here is my first attempt at some helmet cam footage. Skip to the 1 minute mark for the action - i need to get a decent video editor;

I might go out again in a bit - i need to balance myself a new prop first  :whistling:

I didnt notice a prop break on the video  :whistling:
I think the video is much better from the helmet cam  ~~
Nice big well controlled loops too  :bravo:

Here's another couple of flights, with a crash, edited together.

I crashed into long grass and it was completely undamaged, I was lucky.
