I've got my eye on one of those. Is it fairly straight forward to get it working with a PARIS board? I need to save up and get an android phone first really though :-/

Funny you should say that about the phone because I havent got one yet either  :o
I placed an order with rctimer and saw these and thought it was worth a play, as I have a usb blue tooth module and thought maybe I could get them to work, but up to now I m struggling  :(

I managed to get the blue tooth working tonight and its very good no different to be connected directly with the FTDI,
I managed to get  it to work through my old blue tooth dongle the sort you use with your phone the complecated part of this was it setup a com port for each and you had to use the lower numbered one, I m sure when I get another of the Rctimer modules and use it through a usn interface things will connect easier,
the main problem with the blue tooth module was they are factory set to 9600 baud and it has to be altered to 115200 baud to work with the multi wii FTDI port serial 0, I also checked it with my megapirate setup and it also connected perfectly through the mission planner  ~~

It says in the specs you posted it is set to 11520 already, I notice this is also Crius they seem to be making some nice gear now at the right prices  ~~

Copied from above

So it does maybe that's for the max speed and not what's its set to because it was set to 9600 and started to work as soon as I upped the speed to 115200, From what Ive read the default speed from new is 9600 on all if not most of them  ~~

When you say you used an old blue tooth dongle for phones have you got a picture, I thought you had to use one of the same types as the rctimer one with a ttl / serial usb interface

Gaza07

Yea sorry I meant to post a picture  ~~

I bought a new one from ebay for a couple of quid. It's so small you can plug it in to a USB port in a PC or laptop and then forget about it.

Mine cost me £1.90 in total.

Well i just got my bluetooth plug in responding with my quadcopter and desktop computer and the latest version of the winGui for MultiWii.

I'm going to get my laptop set up with it then see what the range is - i should be able to log data from the accelerometers and gyros to give me an idea what the vibrations are like in flight at hovering power settings if it's good enough. A quick test indoors seemed to give at least 3 meters which is enough for a careful close in hover.

Have you bought one of the rctimer ones like gaza07 ? how did the range testing go

teslahed

Yeah, it is one of the rctimer bluetooth modules. I've not tested it outdoors yet though so can't really say what the limit of the range is - maybe latter this evening if the wind drops a bit.
