Hi fellas,
           Just a couple of pics'; of the quad I am just building to use for f.p.v along side the spider I have.
This is a sort of Spider but I wanted to make all arms swept back but having considered the C/G issue have gone for a straight front layout so I call it Hammerhead.
The construction is from 20mm electrical conduit and fittings and I am trying to keep it tidy with all wiring inside the tubes. :smiley:
fly it like ya stole it.

micarus

more pics of Hammerhead

         Cheers  MIKE. :beer2:

Looking good.. I like these designs.

micarus

Thanks Jumpy, I just hope it flies  ::) think I may add a bit on the tail to get it to balance with my f.p.v, gear on the nose.  :wack0

             Cheers  MIKE. :beer2:

Gaza07

Looking good Mike it should fly fine as long as you get the flight controller in the centre of all the motors, and any thing will fly if you lob it of a tall enough building  :whistling:  ~~

I don';t think so Gazza , I tried that with my first wife but she didn';t fly <far> :laugh:

             Thank';s  though I have sort of figured the c/g  so will try temporary positions at first :whistling:

                             Cheers   MIKE. ::)

Rappy Freak

Looking good Mike.  Look forward to seeing it next time I pop round  ~~
SkyNet shall rise!!!!!!

Smeagol

Looks well Mike, I assume there will be a few more spacers seperating the paltes.

I';m interested in your CG issues, now that you have straightened the arms, that will move the position towards the Y, what was the original issue.

micarus

Thanks Smeagol, the front arms swept back too much and the c/g would have been about 9" behind the present one .
The motors are now mounted and the e.s.cs wired up , just need to fit the control board <KK2 1.5 > and sort out some u/c for it  ,more spacers needed to stiffen the frame up but I think it will still be lighter than a "Discovery" :laugh: and a lot cheaper :whistling:
Hope to test it this weekend  ,just l.o.s though.

                  Cheers   MIKE. :beer2:

I';m working on a proven design, although it is meant to have a camera onboard, so the battery position will balance it until then.

Hope this weekend goes well for you, i';ve ine ahead of me now that my last bits have finally arrived. Mine will be a christmas project as i';m too busy at work to commit time. I';m going to layout the components and remake the frames in the meantime.

The spacers will help a lot as it looks a little saggy at the minute. What U/C are you planning to use - any idea yet, I had just planned to make a few "feet" to sit below the arms.

micarus

Yes Smeagol the thing did look a little "saggy" but I put a couple of spacers to pull the waist down and the nose , I  think it looks O.K. < work to do yet .>  the weight is piling up as it is 980 grams without the lipo and still havn';t thought much about the U/C yet, may just put some short legs under the motors . <I.v left the bolts long diliberatly in case I decide to use them for mounting >.
So far  the motors are 2212-15   930kv from giant cod <yes I';v had them that long!> :whistling:
The E.S.Cs are 25amp hobbywing from same place the F.C.is a KK2 <1.5> that Balders sorted for me  :notworthy: and the R/X is an Orange from ';G';shark. running with a dx6i speccy'; t.x.

        F.P.V.gear when it flys properly and when I can afford it :laugh:
          Tested briefly in the conservatory and seems O.K. but tommorow is another day :beer2:
                    Cheers   MIKE. ::)
