Bixler 2 rebuild

After crashing and leaving the Bixler 2 grounded for some time, I';ve decided to repair it.

My plan is to fit an FY-41AP and FPV gear.

The other mods I want to make are rubber bands to hold the wings on, if it flies well then I';ll replace the fuze so that it is er less crumpled

Mine flew really bad after it';s two crashes and subsequent repairs, it went in so hard nose first it actually bent the tail!

The tail on mine is okay, it';s just the nose that got split and ripped off.

I can imagine it flying like a drunk fish

It was really odd. The nose split in half and bent up but how the rear of the fuze got out of shape I have no idea. Obviously went in quite hard and broke the laws of physics or something...

I';ve just pressed the go button on the FY41P lite flight controller for my bix.

Found a carbon rod the same diameter as the busted one, but it';s 6 inches too short

Bummer, it';s expensive to get it posted out to you also. Any kite shops near you?

There';s a model shop about 20mins away that sells carbon rods, I will go in there near the end of the week

If you have a branch of Decathalon they stock CF rods for both Kites and tents

Hardly worth the effort of repairing it, epo planes tend to fly sh1t after a heavy impact, airframe only from HK is only £21.

Update...

I';ve bin bagged my old fuselage and ordered a new kit.

The FY41AP flight controller has arrived, all the electronics have been stripped from the other bixler, its all be set to one side ready to be installed in the new kit when it arrives.

One question...
Flaps or no flaps, I intend to use the new wings, not sure whether to install the optional flaps or not.

Considering you';re going to be adding extra weight it might be useful for takeoffs if nothing else?

nice D/B,one suggestion tape those rods in secure  travelling on the outside of fuze,they have a tendency to pop out..

OR ... to avoid that - take the servos out and remount them at the tail end with very short pushrods

Update....

It only works!!!! 

Just need a bit more practice with it, it hit a tree but no damage and a couple of rough landings.
