Hi all, quick question. I need to step my voltage for my FPV system down to 5v from a 3s lipo. Will simple 5v step down do the trick? I have only ever used a step down on a 2s lipo on my helicopters. I could use a power rev but do not want to add too much more weight.

Hi, just use a BEC..
That's what I used on the  TX less headtracker project in my post . It needs to be a reasonable quality one though ,so you don't introduce  any electrical noise onto the system. Hobbyking sell a range of suitable ones.
The ones I used had a ferrite ring on the output cable, 3A rating and make sure they will take a 3S supply...( You need very little power for either the Goggles or the aircraft end so the BEC doesn't need to be a high capacity one.)

I would try a linear one and a switching one to see what gives the best results for your set up..

Cheers,

Shaun
