Motor choice and disco limitations

Hi guys.

A thought occurred to me but I can';t seem to find the answer anywhere. If heavy lift motors were run on a disco coupled with a gimbal and a Sony Nex 5 for example would the combination work? It';s a hypothetical question so I can';t give actual weights involved but I wonder if the disco platform is too small/weak for such a setup?

Cheers.

Hmmm. No reason why not but would be a bit unusual.

The only limiting factor would be prop size I guess, what';s the biggest props that will fit on a Disco frame 10"

I think you';re right Biffa, max prop size on standard arms is 10" but I think I';ve read somewhere that you can get either extenders or simply, longer arms.

Rob, it';s definitely unusual which explains the lack of info out there for such a setup. I';m now thinking there';s a reason for the lack of people doing it!  :hmm:

I only asked as I hope to be running a pretty standard disco setup in the not too distant future with a gopro but would no doubt be looking to upgrade and change the setup for my main use which would be amateur aerial photography. It';s a long way off yet so I';ll keep on doing the research.  ;)
