i have a bluetooth and gps hanging around from a broken cuirs board (now hate that board lol) will the naze32 take a gps unit

The answer is yes, but it does require a little bit of work, its not quite plug n play.

The Full Naze32 (Fun Fly) will take a GPS - it requires a couple of headers soldered to the board (unless you take @philtrum';s pre-solder service), and power for the GPS taken off a couple of pads on the board also.  The Baseflight 32-bit software has GPS Hold (Loiter) and GPS Home (RTL) configurable in the GUI for it.

As soon as get 30% throttle the quad lifts level but starts spinning like a top clockwise. I';ve calibrated accelerometer, magnetometer and made sure motor direction is correct with the right direction prop using the Motors Tab in baseflight configurator.

Motors all individually spin equally at 1163.

I';ve attached a copy of my settings in txt format if thats any help.

Anyone have any ideas?

when you view your transmitter /receiver inputs on the naze, does your yaw/pitch/roll all have the same mid point?

Yup. All set as close to 1500 as possible.  And trim button hasn';t been touched on the transmitter.

You don';t have a motor mounted at an angle do you, such as from a damaged/bent arm?  I had this happen to me on my mini H, the wood I used wasn';t quite square at the end allowing a slight lean on one motor causing a bit of a rotation problem.

Got it all working now! Reflash and complete rebuild and now it works!

Now I have another question. I can';t get my head around the format of the magnetic declination on the baseflight software.
My mag dec is -1 5"West, would that be -105 on the baseflight software or something else?

No. Magnetic declination is given in degrees and minutes. You must convert the minutes into a decimal to put into baseflight(divide the minutes part by 60).  If you are saying your magnetic declination is 1 degree 5 minutes west and is negative that would be -1.08333333, I';m not sure how many decimal places baseflight takes though so it may be that you need to put -1.08 or -1.1 depending on that.

Mind you having said that I';m not sure how it being a negative degree already and then being given as being a negative declination would work out

JT

Even easier, get multiwii ezgui on your phone/tablet and under ';gps info'; it shows you what your magnetic declination is!! ~~

JT

Shazzy, apparently the double negative rule applies to this so you would need 1.083 or 1.08 or 1.1 (no - sign) ~~

JT

Its already a negative degree and the declination is also negative so the double negative rule applies, I think.....

Hands0n

Gawd! I';m not getting this at all well ... Must do some Google research tomorrow ... I';ve probably got my APM 2.5 Declination set wrong also ...  :o  Although its GPS and Compass modes have all operated flawlessly to date ...

Like I said just get multiwii ezgui and it displays the number for you! lol.

Hands0n

Ta, that';ll work for my Naze32 when I set it up.

The APM 2.5 takes separate fields for Mins and Degrees, so I';m 0'; 55" according to the Mag Dec site and I';ve entered it into APM as 0 and -55.  It took it, didn';t complain, seems to show the quad pointing in the correct direction according to my navigators compass.

All very confuseballs.
