Painted my Taranis

I bought a spare Taranis shell with the aim of having it water transfer printed. Contacted loads of companies offering this service, some wouldn';t touch it because they only did bigger orders, others had £100 minimum charge and a depressing number couldn';t be arsed to bother replying

So I went with plan B and gave it a new paint job. Was worried it would look too much like a DJI transmitter but don';t think it does. Left the rear half of the case black and quite pleased with how it has turned out.

Yeah I wouldn';t of thought I would but yeah that';s looks pretty cool. Bummer on the water transfer thing. Guess it';s still kinda in its infancy so maybe a bit pricy still. Its come down in price eventually.

Indeed, was more annoyed at the number of companies who couldn';t be arsed to bother replying either way. Aloft Hobbies in the US carry pre-dipped shells, I did hear that T9 Hobby Sport might do the same here but they haven';t as yet.

Still, I like that we can buy spare parts for Taranis so easily, I was able to buy a complete shell and the case stickers from T9 for less than £15. So experiments like this can be done without wrecking the original shell.

Cellulose white appliance paint over a plastic primer and then clear lacquer over the top.

You';d need a new sticker set. I couldn';t find the display as a pare part so I reused my existing display cover, it pops out quite easily so wasn';t an issue.

Totally off topic but check these out!

I found them lurking in flight cases from my ill spent youth and stripped and rebuilt with a mean powdercoat.
