Cheers Brian, from posts on RcGroups they get good feedback.. I did think  about buying a Carbon frame.. but lots or people saying that the ali ones are more robust for not much more weight and cheaper to fix..  its also a very cheap frame...  lots of spares available for this Quad .. and your can convert it to a Hex later if you want. The only think i wasnt sure of was the landing gear.. but again same as bumblebee..

Just built one of these Turnigy HAL Quads. There';s a real design fault in the landing skids... The little yellow plastic joints are incredibly weak. They break really easily if you don';t land squarely. I toughened them up a bit with epoxy after two fractured.

I noticed that Turnigy seem to have addressed this design issue in the latest Hex version of this frame - the joints seem to be made of metal.

Thanks ordered some spares because they looked weak, for some reason they dont sell the hex style ones yet..  will epoxy them as you have done

ya landing is 2 metal piece

Jumpy07

Frame has arrived..  box amazingly small.. the FC plastic cover is huge.. first impressions are parts are of good quality..

Here is the build instructions..

Found this time lapse build which is excellent..  so no point in me doing any build up  pics..

Center piece is 16cm in diameter..  have to admit quite impressed.. loads of space for things..  motor wires will run through arms which is good.. and ESC';s will stick between the plates between the arms.  The only think that lets it down is the yellow plastic fitting on the skids..    have ordered some spares just in case.. and might get my engineering mate to knock me up some ali ones.

Its allso much lighter than I thought.. havent weighed it but much the same as my other quad.. the arms and motor mounts feel very good quality... and the collander dome is huge.. and wil keep everything dry and safe.. for £21.. good value

Quick update..

Still waiting on motors.. but have flashed simonk on ESC';s and solder on new silicon cable ..  installed the ESC';s on the frame in between the  two centre plates and arms..  think the yellow cable look good with the orange frame clamps.

GPS and FC is mounted, and Ultrasonic is installed and tested..

Need to order another ImmersionRX 5.8ghz tx ..

Still waiting on motors but Gimbal and battery mount arrived..  no instructions but found a PDF on HK site http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uploads/282045583X7478X7.pdf

Needs three mini servos.. so bought some MG ones..   not sure why you need pan on a gimbal on a multi though.

I had bought the gimbal just for the rails and mount.. but it looks better than I thought with proper pivot bearings..

Just watch out for that skid - the plastic joints WILL break with the first heavy landing

Still waiting on motors.. think they are coming on the slow boat from China..

So fitted the alternative gimbal to the rails for the HAL gimbal.. gives better ground clearence..  also it sturdier.. but doesent have bearing on pivots..

Will need to move Ultrasonic sensor as will have hang battery out the back rail..

Motors added.. solder bullets on and slid them inside the arms..

Also added the battery mount.. had to remove the ultrasonic.  will need to think about where to put it now..

Rx mounted above battery plate..  will put the video tx above the gimbal.. and hang the 3DR radio down under the dome somewhere..
