HI. I just received battery : http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=14061

I don';t understand why this pack is called lifepo4 . I expected cylindrical cells but they are look like LIPO cells.

Thanks for reply.

LiFePO4 refers to the chemistry of the battery;

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lithium_iron_phosphate_battery

LiFePO4 batteries come in all sorts of different shapes and sizes. You might be thinking of the A123 cells;

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A123_Systems

which are a particular brand of LiFePO4 cell that does come in a cylindrical form.
One circlip short of a quadcopter.
 1 lobe short of an antenna.

I use A123 grade A and B which are 2300 and 2500mAh. Got 40 cells together ;) . My album-> https://picasaweb.google.com/117142172880292207634/Hexacopter#5783523190622537138 Because my last accident with lipo i would like buy lifepo4 3s for my googles.

LiPo can explodes or fires. LiFePo4 cylindrical cells never explode (99% imo) or fire. Thats why i wanted cylindrical cells.(SAFE)

Never seen this type of cells called lifepo4 . Most of  lifepo4 cells are cylindrical (A123,GWL,  and other companies).

Someone wrote max is 3.3V per cell in this pack. Thinking now what will be discharge curve for zippy 1800mah life pack.. same like for all lipos or flat like for all cylindrical A123 cells.
Im gonna check in a sec.

The cells from hobby king are LiFePo4 cells they are just in a different package and shouldn';t be able to busrt into flames, they might look like lipo';s but they are not, Maybe the A123 brand is copyrighted  :shrug:

Thanks guys. This battery is 30C from HK and its ok for me.. F550 Naza takes max 30-32A in my setup.  So.. If they are much safer than lipo and are in lightest pouch they can be better alternative than A123 cylindrical. Hmmm.
Discharge curve i think will be similar to A123 cells and will be very hard to monitor voltage with normal lipo/life checkers.

I want to test this 1800mAh...  Maybe i will try overcharge it on the field and try do short circuit and we will see how safe it is :D

You could bang a large nail through it that would really test it  :whistling:  ::)
