Hello Jumpy07

i have tried to change the airspeed, but now my radio is only blinking its green lights (both groundstation and airstation.)
I';ve been looking for a whole day today, but can';t find a sollution to get it working again.
Even tried installing everything (Crius board and the 433) all over again with no luck. :cry
do you have any suggestion?

Jumpy07

You have probably changed the local radio settings without changing your remote settings at the same time.. easliy done.

To fix you will need to use an FTDI adapter on the remote and load the 3DR tool and check the settings...

3DR Tool here : http://vps.oborne.me/3drradioconfig.zip

Both radios need the exact same settings to work...  the 3DR app will show you the local settings.. just take a note of the them and make the remote one the same.

Thank you very much Jumpy07. ~~ ~~ ~~
You were so right, learning every day. :beer2:

I know this may seem a silly question but how do these work? I have seen the on other sites but always wondered how they work, do they replace the spektrum rx and tx or do you have to use special radio gear to control the quad?

Gaza07

They don';t replace the rx/tx they are for wireless telemetry so you can use the GUI / Planner while in flight  ~~

Oh right, the dx8 and the right sensors cover what i want for now.

Gaza07

They arent the same thing Paul the telemetry on the dx8 is great but it cant run the gui / planner and it cant do the mission planning live  ~~

I wonder how well that would work with a bluetooth bridge and copter gcs on my android tablet?

They should work well and there is a blue tooth bridge that has been made I will try to find the info unless some one else already has it  ~~

I wonder why he has a multi turn pot in the power board in between the bluetooth and xbee boards.

Jumpy07 - thanks very much for the tip. Ordered a set (£27 in total including a 5 day delivery).

Parcel arrived. Connected the antenna, plugged one in to my PC, plugged the other into the APM2.5 that';s driving my quadcopter using the cable that came with the APM board. Set the Comport and baudrate on mission planner, hit connect and it worked just like that... too easy!

Now for my first flight with telemetry!

I wonder if anyone can help, I have the RCTimer 433Mhz Telemetry package, however I can';t get it to connect via mavlink?

Using the 3DR radio section I can see and connect to both local and remote radios, both are identical settings but when i try to connect the the com port for the radio Mavlink just times out?

Any ideas?

You aren';t trying to connect whilst the APM is connected to your PC by USB are you?

Are you setting the port speed to 57600 any faster and it will fail  ~~  :beer2:

Nope, USB Disconnected, Baud rate set to 57600,

Error is timeout, no heartbeat records received?

Do you have the TX and RX wired correctly?
Steve

orfordness

I';ve used the pre-assembled cables from Unmanned Tech, when using the 3DR settings applet in MP it talks to the local and remote radios fine, I can see the Rx & Tx LED';s flashing along with the little red ones too?

Always worth swapping the pins for RX and TX, perhaps the pin outs are different for the APM and Crius boards?
Steve

orfordness

I';ll check the wiring on the guide, bit of detective work should be sufficient to check....

Although, surely it wouldn';t work in the 3DR test bit if they were back to front?

RESULT, GPS and 3DR cables were reversed, so not on correct serial ports!

I received this set today and for the life of me cannot connect it to mission planner. I get the "no heartbeat packets" error message.  I never got a telemetry cable with my quad and so bought one from BYOD, I assume it is the same as the original.
I have the correct COM port
Baud set to 56700
the radios have a solid green lock and will communicate in the test screen on mission planner so they are working (settings are identical both sides)

Does anyone have a diagram or a picture showing what each pin on the telem port does just in case this cable is not wired correctly?

Regards,
Jeff.

EDIT, found the APM schematic and the cable looks fine.

Anyone any idea where to look next?

EDIT to the EDIT  Found it! dodgy soldering on the APM telemetry pins (back of board) RX and TX were bridged by the tiniest fleck of solder.  Happy, happy, happy. :beer2:
