One of the problems I've still yet to solve properly is that of power distribution on the OCTO.   On the last build I just soldered and shrink wrapped but I need to find a more elegant solution. It will need to handle 8 motors at a MAX of 20A each.

Cant the little distro boards from china handle the current ? I know they have eight pads on them but I have never gone over 6 motors so never had to use all eight, the flyduino distro board looks quite a bit more beefy than most

This is what I do in higher current apps....

That's single core 30A mains cable (take up to 7500w!) soldered around the positives. These boards can actually take quite a lot of current, but no point in taking chances!

Gaza07

Wow thats gonna handle some current you must be lord of the solderings  :D ~~

those distribution boards are well worth the couple o quid.  saves a helluva lot of soldering and heatshrinking.  easy to tap off from for video tx power too.

FYI, in case anyone is interested, I have these boards in the shop now!

Best!

I have a lot of people using these Hexa and OctoCopter Power Distribution Boards They will do 50 Amps from the box and a layer of solder can be added to the tracks to take this value up, I have customers running over 200 Amps through these boards on OctoCopters without issues!

This is how I did it on my quad,

I like this because the power goes both ways round the loop, its like the M25. Also keeps the spiders web mess out of the centre of the frame, which is usually where your electronic flight controller would go.

MadMax

Looks good but with it being a complete ring could it become magnetic
