Two blade versus three blade props

What';s the difference? Which is ';better';?

2 blade props are much easier to balance, 3 blade will give more lift for the same diameter but decent quality 3 blade are a lot more difficult to get your hands on than 2 blade.
So you see it';s not really a matter of which is best at the end of the day it comes down to which you can get the best quality of at a sensible price!

Darrell is right - practically speaking it';s much harder to get hold of good quality counter rotating 3 bladed props than 2 bladed props which is the biggest factor.

But if all else was equal a 3 bladed prop should give similar lift to a larger diameter 2 bladed prop, so it';s a way of moving more air without using longer props.
One circlip short of a quadcopter.
1 lobe short of an antenna.

Generally speaking you would go down a size so if you have 10X5 2 blade you would go down to 9X5  3 blade or you do on planes
