GoPro Hero <n> Copying Files From The microSD

An observation that may help others.

I have recorded about 6GB of video and associated files on the GoPro Hero (3 Black, but I don';t suppose it matters) and am now set to copying them on to the Mac to edit up. 

Using the USB from the GPH3B the estimated time to copy is 2 hours! 
Popping the microSD card out and into a dedicated multi memory card reader the estimated time to copy is 6 minutes!  Thats a tad better

General advice then ... don';t use the GPH as a microSD card reader.

I know this stuff ... so why on earth I even attempted to has got to be down to bone idle laziness on my part
