When I first got in to Quads I got a very cheap GoPro on Ebay and it';s a standard definition (i.e. NOT HD) Version 1 - the one with 2 AAA batteries and not a battery pack - and it has no output plug connections apart from USB.

Any road up ....I eventually damaged the lens in a crash (not using the housing - yes - stupid) ... so I bought a new compatible lens (cheap  :whistling:) and I';ve done the surgery to replace said lens and it';s all done and works ...

However, it';s well out of focus & I need to adjust said focus - apparently one has to connect it to a TV to see the focus... live ..... So I need a lead....

Now - everywhere I look on t';internet it';s all GoPro 3 everywhere and it';s composite lead has a 3.5mm Jack where I have no 3.5mm socket ... my GoPro is so old - version wise - even the GoPro site has no help - except a basic manual ....so I need ....

a) a 3.5mm socket to USB plug converter... (so I can use a GoPro3 composite lead)

This looks ideal or am I missing something simple..... how can I tell if it';s the right USB as there';s loads of different shapes

I';m also wary as I think there';s audio AND video 3.5mm jacks ....

- OR -

b) a composite lead with my mini USB plug....

Any ideas - help - links - suggestions (perhaps sling it in the bin accepted as the best solution )

If you post the original model number of your gopro i could try and google the specs to see if this is possible or not.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GoPro#GoPro_HERO_35mm.2C_All-Season_Sports_Camera

According to this the original digital gopro is called a ';Digital HERO 3'; but the ';Digital HERO 5'; matches your description better.

QuoteInput/Output
Interface    USB
Video Out    Yes, RCA cable

So given that the only port on the side of the GoPro is a USB port you need a USB to RCA converter cable.

According to this;

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB#Mini_and_Micro_connectors

There are 4 types of usb plug and i am guessing you';ll have the mini type on the gopro. So you need a mini USB to RCA cable.

I have no real idea if that will work or not. Gopro may have used some different proprietary standard i know nothing about. But it might...

The USB Lead you get sent free with a Mobius should do exactly what you want for the GoPro (The USB connections/wiring will be universal) So, you can try and find someone local to you that has the cable and borrow it, or buy one on eBay...

Which is a pain as you';ll have to wait for it to come from China/Hong Kong but they are pretty cheap IIRC. I';d also say any USB to Video Out/In will work as being the USB standard they will all be wired exactly the same, so some of the cheapo VCR to .avi leads you can get on Amazon will probably also be quite suitable but these will more than likely have full-sized USB plugs when you';ll need either a Mini or Micro, but it might be cheaper/faster to order a full-sized USB and an adapter than it is to get one from China..???
