Hello,
After doing some reading of this excellent forum I have managed to build and fly my first quadcopter, been flying fixed wing and helis for the last 40 yrs on and off but always looking for a challenge.I chose a Hobbyking HAL with kk 2.0 a quad esc some 28 mm motors and 10 inch props  using 3s power,quite surprised that it flys as I have an allergy to anything technical?? The only main issue for me is that I now only have a DX 8 on mode 1 <my fixed wing mode> and that I have always flown my helis on mode 2 so finding it difficult and confusing to fly ?? , really don,t want to pay for another Dx8 so thought about a basic Dx5e ?.I have always used my expo/rates on fixed wing so can I get away with a basic tx and use the kk setting to soften the quad??

I started off flying helis mode 2 but when I started flying planes I had problems and converted to mode 1, I now fly planes and quads mode 1; yes it took a bit of time to adjust but by taking it steady and getting plenty of practice with a Twister quad on mode 1 (from Steve Webb models) I';m okay now. I found it very confusing to try and fly dual mode and it was costing me too much in oops'; s!
If you';re absolutely 100% that you have to go mode 2 then I would seriously consider a Turnigy 9xr, it will do more or less everything your dx8 will do and is considerably cheaper.

Well you can get the original DX7 for not too much, and the current DX7 is a tolerable price these days.
