Had a golden opportunity to go FPV';ing today, down the  local flying club field.  Was nice to simply sit relax and fly FPV with my DIY Quad and gimbal setup.

Gav, that looks like a beautifully made quad, I like the ';coffin'; shape.  Do you have all the cutting gear?  What';s your video camera and recording setup there?
Like the footage by the way, it';s nice ';snooping'; around stuff!

Hi Andy, thanks for the nice comments!

Yes the Coffin is made from hand cut G10 sheet I bought off a dealer in Hong Kong.  I used a Maplins dremel and a pack of resin cutting discs off ebay for a couple of quid.  Just snip out the template on a piece of paper then mark onto the G10 sheet with masking tape then out in the garden and then carefully cut it out with the cutting disc.  Little bit of sanding and trimming to make it ';Just so';

As for the cameras I';m using it is a Sony WDR600TVL for the FPV flying and then a Boscam HD19 for the stabilised video recording.  It records direct to microSD card.  You just have to remember to end the recording before pulling the power otherwise bye bye video file.

I can switch between cameras in flight with a switch on the tx.  Mainly flying via the hard mounted WDR camera though.

replacing the CRIUS AIOP v2 currently fitted to it with a Naza lite n GPS, tomorrow.  Wanting a more stable / reliable altitude hold / GPS and RTH failsafe.

Nice field there Gav and a great DIY frame and gimbal. I wouldn';t be able to resist going into that tree line at high speed from that nice and open space. Great stuff  :beer2:

What are you going to use your CRIUS AIOP v2 when you swap to the Naza?
