I would recommend anyone have a go at making there own antenna, its a giggle and gives you a great sense of achievement when they work well, I';ve made all of my own and they all blow commercial antenna out of the water. It does help that I have access to £80k worth of network analyser for tuning hehehehe

I made several sets of my own before buying a set of spiro';s which I only really use now because of the plastic case protecting the elements.  Got a load of SMA pigtails kicking around, if anyone wants some, let me know, cover costs/postage and they';re yours.
