Need a three position switch on your Transmitter

like many others I find the need for a three position switch rearing it's ugly head now. My faithful old Eclipse 7 like many others doesn't have one. The solution is either a new TX or modify the old one, I chose the latter. I haven't taken any pictures of this but it's relatively simple to do. What you need to do is convert one of the rotary channels to a three position fixed channel. On the Eclipse I have two so after a little work I have two three position switched channels available now.
Required components are some SPST three position toggle switches and two 2.7k resistors for each switch you fit. Solder one side of the resistor legs to the centre and the other side of each to the outer legs (see diagram) Now unsolder the wires from the rotary control your converting and solder them to the switch in the same order. i.e. middle to middle, left to left, right to right. Mount the switch where required and jobs done. If like me you have no use for the flight conditions on your TX then that is a good a place as any to mount your switch.

Hello, I am new to this forum.

I understand that this topic was written a while ago but never the less I am after some help please.

What it is is that I have replaced the pots on VR1 and VR2 for 3 way toggle switches and am struggling to get it to work properly.  Basically what is happening is that VR2 does nothing at all which I';m not too concerned about at the mo.  VR1 how ever is messing with my brain,  when it';s off (middle) AUX2 sits at 1500 (medium) and when i move it left it moves to 1985 (high) or if I reverse it I get 1060 (low), is there a way to make this switch do low, medium and high going from left to right?  When I toggle the flight control switch it exaggerates the direction of travel if that makes sense i.e. the low setting of 1060 moves further down to 912.

Any help much appreciated.

Oh and I have checked and re checked my soldering and resistors and all seems fine, (I just resoldered middle to middle etc.

Thanks again

Hi Hibbo and welcome to the forum, can you go into the tx settings and reverse the channel that the switch is on, that will then make the low end high and so on, the middle is always going to be 1500 medium as you call it, you can setup most flight controllers to use any of the positions for any of the modes, what tx do you have ? and what flight controller will you be using it with ?

Hello.  I am using an Eclipse 7 radio and have a Crius SE board.  The problem I am having is I cannot achieve a 1000 - 1500 - 2000 setting with the switch.  I either get 1000 - 1500 or if I reverse it 1500 - 2000.  I have tested the switch with a multimeter and it appears to work fine, it may just be a limitation of my Tx which I can accept I always just want more lol.

Thanks

Hi Hibbo sorry I think I miss read your first post  so your only getting 2 positions out of the 3 then, I';m not sure this would do anything but is it worth trying swapping 2 of the wires over on the switch middle to one end and the end one to the middle, not sure this will help but it might
Hopefully pheasant_plucker will know whats wrong  ~~

Either the wire is wrongly attached and you have two crossed over or there is a fault in the switch. The channel that doesn';t work simply needs setting up in the menus.

Hello again, have the switch on vr1 working, it was incorrectly wired up.  Have been messing about with the other switch, is it set up through the pitch mix?  Have probably got that wired wrong to lol.

Thanks again

pheasant_plucker

I honestly cant remember which mix it is. I have just ordered a minature 6 way rotary switch to replace a pot to get 6 positios. I';ll do a write up when I do it.

That sounds awesome, until then I guess I';ll just keep on tinkering

Hey mate, I';m still struggling with sorting the second three way switch out, any chance you could look at your settings and let me know what you use so I can start from there.  That would be brilliant if you could.

Thanks

pheasant_plucker

I';ll try to have a look tomorrow. I';ll have to set a reciever up on the bench with seros plugged in.

The left hand trimmer is channel 6. Go in to the menu and go through until you find FLPT set it to 100%

Thanks for the reply.  I have the left hand switch all sorted and it was been working a treat.  It was more info on the right hand switch I was after as I cannot figure how to make it work.

On the plus side the weather finally relented enough for me to clear the snow from the patio and finally get flying  :wack0

pheasant_plucker

The right hand one is channel 7. Check your EPA for that channel in the menu

I';m sorry but I have more silly questions

Should the channel 7 switch just work I have the epa to 125% as like all my other controls.  I have been trying many different things to make it work, the Tx instructions same about using Pitch Mix to activate channel 7, I still have nothing.

Cheers
