Hey,

Bought 4 of these monsters and put them on my FPV 550 Quad.

http://www.fatflyer.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&path=10_70&product_id=11

Very cheap and bags of power! I had to adjust my throttle curve to get hover at half stick instead of 1/4 stick on 10x4.7 plastic props!

Anyone else used these?

They';re a good looking find. Is it a UK seller? I used 8x4.5 on my Turnigy 1100KV so would suggest that. The motors own spec says 9x4.7 max. Going over that my cause problems of heat through overloading.  Others on here recommend using s watt meter to avoid such issues.

At that price I rather fancy picking up a set as spares or to maybe finally build a hex :-)

LOL   Those are the same spec as my Turnigy D2836/8 1100KV jobbies - I fly those with 8x4.5, haven';t tried 9s or 10s in them yet. They fly well enough with my 450 sized Alien air frame. Mid throttle is an effective hover with the Naza M Lite - I think if I went up a prop size or two it would change the characteristics  of that.

Damn, but those prices are rather keen - my Turnigy were about £18 each!  Today';s prices on eBay seem even higher http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Turnigy-D2836-8-1100-KV-Brushless-Outrunner-Motor-UK-stock-same-day-post-/130935849353?pt=UK_ToysGames_RadioControlled_JN&hash=item1e7c628189

Think I may go for the 1000KV you originally posted and use a 9x5 prop. Fruitsalad on this forum does a nice line of carbon reinforced

I think that I will try 9" props at 4.7 or even less to see how they perform.

Those turnigies just have collet style prop adapters rather than the much nicer bolt on prop adapters the other motors linked to use. I wouldn';t recommend the turnigies for a heavier quadcopter just because of the lack of security of the prop adapter (they may fly off in flight if you are unlucky).

Bolt on prop adapters are much more secure and minimise vibration issues as well. A much better design for multirotor aircraft.
One circlip short of a quadcopter.
1 lobe short of an antenna.
