Its time to get back into the scratch build

I started this baby when I first came to the hobby. The lads at FliteTest inspired me, and I used one of their air frame design plans to make this one.  But at the time all I had as a HobbyKing 385P flight controller and it didn';t handle the quad at all well.  I parked the project for a few months. Oh, and I raided it for parts too.

Since then I have flashed the Red Brick 30A ESCs with SimonK but haven';t had a chance to fly them (I used the version that is specific to Red Brick to prevent them overheating).
The motors remain the Turnigy 2213N 800KV - they really are dreadful, the slack in the propshaft is extraordinary, the motor body lifting anything up to .5cm in my estimation.
The props are 10x4.5 ABS plastic jobbies, cheap and cheerful.

So after a bit of a buying frenzy earlier on I now have three FCs that I could equip this quad with.  There is an APM 2.5, a Crius AIOP v2 running MPNG 2.9.x, and a KK2 with 1.6 firmware.  All my instincts tell me to go with the APM 2.5 though as that is the one I have the most current experience with.

Its an ugly beast, but even then, its maiden and other early flights weren';t dreadful - and encouraged me to persist.

Here';s possibly the third or fourth flight it did

I always use carbon propellers for my quad. very cheerful. hope u can go ahead wit your flight

APM would be good, but now you';ve got more experience of flying could be worth giving the KK2 a go - from what I can see properly set up they are OK and with the 1.6 firmware should be pretty good on default settings - depends what you intend to use it for I suppose.

Thats a good point really - I could start out with the KK2 I suppose.  It wouldn';t do any harm. Probably the quickest way to get the quad up in the air too.    Think I';ll decide on the FC on the day.  ::)
