Bodget (Bodged/Budget) FPV Helm made from bits lying around in the house:

Petzl Climbing Helmet
Wooden BBQ Skewers
7inch Monitor that does not Blue screen
Gav';s 5.8 Skew Planar';s
Phone case box that just happened to fit the monitor
Hmmmm Gaffa tape.
Can of beer in a Maharishi "Bag" as a counterweight

Oh and spot the Ghost Mantis....

And yes-Very Happy. I have put some shades on the sides of the LCD that flap up if need be and there is space to look through - like a sunroof- I feel more confident being able to flit between LOS and the screen in a pinch.

I was not really expecting it to work so well seeing as we jury rigged it after a few beers... :beer2:

The video has been gone through the You tube anti shake machine which works in places but not in others,
I am really going to start looking into a better way to edit the footage...
Thanks for checking it out!

flybywire

Nice one.  Welcome to the ';addiction';!  How about some pics of your multi?  Where was it filmed?  Scotland?
Keep it up.

Finally the rig-ish:

Great stuff.
Looks like have it all sorted out now. We will have to do some formation FPV - what could possibly go wrong.

Think I spotted a few bunnies in that vid.

guest325

Nice vid! I thought I recognised it - it';s the Powderham folly isn';t it?
Been around that area many times on holiday, the Exe estuary is a beautiful area!

teslahed

That looks like a great flying location and a good flight too for one of your first!

The FPV hat looks good but could possibly be improved if the sticks holding the screen were not as droopy.

I used this stuff;

http://www.goodluckbuy.com/diy-2pcs-22mmx20mmx400mm-carbon-fiber-tube-for-professional-fpv-quadcopter-hexacopter-octa-.html

Cheap carbon fibre bought directly from china usually turns out to be fibreglass wrapped in a thin layer of carbon to make it look pretty. I am pretty sure that';s what this is. I wouldn';t use it to build a quadcopter but it works great on my FPV hat.
One circlip short of a quadcopter.
1 lobe short of an antenna.

Thanks man, I understand about the droop-but it does lend itself to having a way to peek out if needed, being a learner- I like the way it keeps me grounded as so to say.
Obviously it will not have much shelf life in its current form so I will be looking to upgrade the materials in due course - thanks for the heads up with the link.
When I literally first started researching FPV Flying, I came across a photo of your first setup and nearly died laughing thinking it was a joke...

Now I am the laughing stock of my friends...
Where will this end? :help:
