Key chain camera lipo puffed

All,

Just a quick one as I know a number of you use the HD key chain cameras, mine stopped recording any longer than 15 seconds, I suspected that I needed to cycle the battery as it had been left for a while, so charged it, still the same, so I thought I';ll take it apart, all I did was run my finger over the QA seal and it popped apart, battery puffed.

I consider myself lucky there was not a fire or at least a scorch mark on the kitchen bench!

The battery is now in an empty can on a ceramic plate till I can dispose of it tomorrow.

Worth checking (or at least being aware of).

Regards,

Callum

That';s a bit bad! Good job it didn';t completely go, saves buying a new camera at least.

Fully discharge it then put it in a bucket of salt water for up to a week. Then it';s safe to chuck it in the bin.  ~~
I reverse polarities for fun.

The bucket if salt-water is to safely fully discharge it.

Calomile

You';ll speed the process up if you use the discharge option on your charger, but you';re right, the salt water will fully neutralise the lipo over a period of time regardless of its charge.

I fully discharge them with a hammer and nail :whistling:

You can get replacement LiPo from HobbyKing I believe - saw on a YouTube video recently. The advice was to rescue the protection circuit from the existing LiPo to solder on to the replacement (see http://youtu.be/ktudxfkjfFc )

What size and capacity is it Chami? I have some single cell 240mah packs kicking around - maybe too big though?

I can';t find my cam to size them up.
