Flying near the Caton Windmills

I took my FPV hex up to the Caton Windmills for the first time ever. There';s some nice scenery up there and some gulleys to fly through. I kept away from the windmills themselves because i don';t really want to get in the papers for doing something stupid...

Nice one, Chris!

Do you have a lost model beeper?  I';d hate to search for your mini hex if for whatever reason,  went down and landed in the gorse bushes.

Cheers

Funny you should mention that...

I did lose the hex in the heather on the very next flight. It took me a good 10 mins to find it. Fortunately the ESCs are set to beep after 3 mins of no response so i found it based on that and a rough idea of where it went down.

I actually used the telemetry beeps on my transmitter to get a rough bearing as well - i lowered the transmitter down to ground level then positioned the aerial so that it was pointing directly away from roughly where the quad went down. When the transmitter was lined up so that the transmitter was between the aerials and the quad i was getting the weakest signal and the transmitter was beeping to let me know. I could scan backwards and forwards with the transmitter and i knew i was pointing at the downed quad when it was beeping the most.

Between these two methods i found it but i will be investing in a loud alarm before the next flight.

GoPro 3 silver - first video was 720p at 60fps and second was 1080p at 30fps.
