1 small step for me ...

had my first attempt at FPV today , with mixed results .

my  fpv quad  is a modified dead cat  with 900kv motor 20amp esc
APM2.5 minimosd 200ma boscam tx and sony 600(I think) line cam .

when doing the test non fpv flight the video interference was very bad . I disconneted the osd then the picture was good if a little dark but I think that was the due to black sky.
Anybody any idea why osd caused interference ?

next step was to try and fly fpv I got about 6 inches from the ground and bottled it.
so decided to take off  manually and put the quad into loiter then take over fpv with homemade goggles .
went well for 2-3 minutes then paniced a little, so called it a day and land in manual .

But all in all I felt a good start . One thing is for sure no one should try fpv with out a spotter . My wife spotted for me today and it workout well .

Could be a grounding issue with the OSD perhaps?

When I started to FPV that was exactly how I took off at first, you will soon build the confidence to take of/land with the goggles on. Of course there is no right or wrong way - just do what suits you best ~~

you need to use a  l-c filter to remove the interference..

hi and thanks for the reply , I am running a L-C Filter .
Like I said before without osd I got a solid picture even at 600m (that as fare as I went ) only with osd bid the interference kick in .

any other thoughts welcome

cheers

Is it the minimOSD you are running? How are you powering the OSD?
One circlip short of a quadcopter.
1 lobe short of an antenna.

yes its the minimosd , I have it powered from the APM side only with the jumper shorted .
it worked fine in the garden yesterday , but not at the field today ...

Worth having a read about the minimOSD power issues;

http://www.multi-rotor.co.uk/index.php?topic=3014.msg24291#msg24291 - how i did mine.

It may be that you are powering the minimOSD with the 2 different sides separately, but only have 1 side shielded.
