Working out C of G

Hi all,

is there a way or determining where the C of G is. I have rebuilt my hex, moved the battery to the top and changed the values for IMU location ,, but it now it is un-flyable.. So I think I need to check the values relative to the C of G.

Put a finger under each of the two ';middle'; motors and lift the hex when it';s all turned off. The hex should balance evenly front and back - move the battery if it doesn';t.

One circlip short of a quadcopter.
1 lobe short of an antenna.

I`ve put the IMU on a center leg so I can zero out Y axis ( naza ) and balance it on the center legs with battery .

If you are setting up a naza , check if it`s - or + value , eg the Z axis is normally a negative value

Hi Teslahed,

thanks for that. I';m trying to work out if I have the settings in the Naza assistant correct rather than check the balance. I have set them relative to the copter centre of the frame, not C of G. It was flying great with the batt underneath, but on top, it';s lethal. I had to relocate the IMU to one side when moving the battery...

cheers

Hi Peter,

I cant picture that in my mind.. do you mean the Y for battery and IMU is 0 ?

thanks

Yes , 0 ,  if it`s on the CG line it`s got to been right .

I have a 550 hex with a 3 cell 5800 on top of the frame and it flies o.k , and the gain are very much higher than what they say.

Prometheus

Thanks for that,

I';ll have a tinker over the weekend
