DX8 gets warm during use?

Hi,

I';ve just bought a Spektrum DX8 transmitter.
So far I like it a lot, its a nice unit with lots of features and flexibile setup.

I';m a bit concerned though that the front casing gets warm in the area of the rolling selector, on the right of the display screen.
It only happens when I';m flying a model (not while charging the tran battery) and is only local to that area of the casing.
I never noticed a similar effect with the borrowed DX6i that I used previously.

Does anyone else here use a DX8?
If so, does it get warm in the same way?

You never know it may be a bridged contact.  remove the battery and tip the unit upside down and shake it.

This advice was given on RC Groups years ago..there were a surprising number of posters replies saying bits of snipped wire and solder fragments fell out of their  trannies!!
Let's be careful out there.
SAFETY is.. NO accident.

I';ve never noticed anything but I';ll check next flight!  :hmm:

Thanks Ross.  ~~

It sounds like a bizarre way to fix a problem - but I tried the method you posted.
There was a slight rattle from inside the case, though nothing fell out.
The surprising, but good news was - the transmitter didn';t heat up when I used it today.
I';ll take that as a win for the moment.
But I might take the time to open it up and have a look to see if theres something floating around inside the case.

Sounds like a plan to me. Never know where it could end up next!  :blink

Nice bit of Chinglish there, you been reading through HK model build instructions perchance?

powerlord

I can never understand the bad manuals...  More people speak English in China than in the USA.  Stop 10 folk in the street in Beijing and one with be fluent in English.

Yet somehow they manual to find these folk to write manuals in incomprehensible chinglish.  Where do they find em??
