COMPASSMOT increase due to brushlass gimbal

Hi everybodyyyyy... just a quickie .
I have just got my brushless gimbal up and running on my hex .
Its run on APM2.5 with 3.0 software .
I did the compassmot test which give 23% of magfield , when I turned on the gimbal
and retested the figure went up to 30%.

Due to increase in brushless gimbal just wanted to make user aware of increase  .

P.S my hex still flys good with the increase

Sheesh.  Mine was 230%. After endless faffing and moving apm to 2 inches above the motors I';ve only managed to get it down to 100. I';d kill for 30!!  What am I doing wrong??

hi   is 230 your magfield  or is it the % you get in the CLI test for compassmot ?

my  magfeild  was  323.00in my last flight . But the COMPASSMOT test showed 30%.

Sounds like you are a candidate to install a remote Compass board.

yes , but I run it up to 75%.

1 thing I keep an eye on is the magfield in the "logs" after each flight . I had a couple of crashes in auto a couple of weeks ago . After checking the logs I notice the magfield had gone up to over 500.00   from around 300.00 . So I re calibarated the compass and accel and all well again with the 300.00 figure back .
So I would recommend  all APM owners checking the   magfield  often

Noooo, the Magfield in the log is how well its picking up North. The higher the number the better, this has nothing to do with Compassmot

Yeh mine was compassmot.  Id forgot separate compass was an option.. . Went and ordered a new 40 quid frame from hk last night to all apm to be mounted really high.... Then this morning remembered about external compass... Duh.  Ordered one for 4 quid.  I';ll mount that on a carbon tube 6in up and I';d bet it';ll be fine... Leaving me with a new frame I don';t need.  Ho hum

One I';ve got my APM stable I';m going to fit the external compass also.  But that';s the least of my current worries  ::)
