ArduPPM v2.3.16 Enables FailSafe for non-FS TX/RX

I';m not sure if this has been posted up here before but I';ve just successfully implemented Fail Safe on my APM 2.5 courtesy of an update of the ArduPPM controller to v2.3.16

The full read up, download and instructions are here --> http://ardupilot.com/downloads/?did=26

The documentation and download for the Link flashing tool are here --> https://code.google.com/p/ardupilot-mega/wiki/APM2Encoder

The salient points relating to the new firmware are:
Quote
Adapted behaviour in case of channel loss:

ch1, roll: set to center (1500us)
ch2, pitch: set to center (1500us)
ch3, throttle: set to low (900us)
ch4, yaw: set to center (1500us)

ch5-ch8: retain last value

In Mission Planner the default PPM value to trigger FailSafe is 975PPM and so when this new ArduPPM controller firmware loses radio signal it drops the Throttle (Ch3) PPM dow to 900 which is low enough.

I';ve not flown FailSafe (RTL) in the quad yet - but the Mission Planner indicates that it has indeed worked.

Just a small remark, RCTimer Arduflyer before March 2013 do not have a boot loader for the m32u2 chip so it can';t be upgraded before burning a bootloader with AVR.... burning the bootloader was a pain.
