Filmed with TBS Discovery and Jumpy 3D printed gimbal

Sunnyside Royal Hospital, Scotlands Oldest Lunatic Asylum, Built in 1857 and finally closing its doors in December of 2011, there are number of buildings situated within the extensive grounds (originally around 80 Acres),

This video is a lot longer than I normally do but feel the magnificent old buildings deserved the extra time,

The hospital is situated in Hillside on the outskirts of Montrose my hometown and its a real shame to see it like this, the hospital has a lot of history and many towns folk were employed there over its 200+ years, whilst we were up the joiners were there boarding up the windows of the main building.

For more info and history of the hospital then visit
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunnyside_Royal_Hospital  or  http://www.sunnyside.me.uk/

Hope you enjoy the video, some footage is a little shaky as although it doesn';t look it it was quite windy up there today and still need to tweak the gimbal a little, this is one I plan to re-visit on a calmer day and get more of the smaller buildings, which arent that small when up close.
Best Watched in Full Screen HD.

We have some of these left on this side of the pond too. Most were closed in the 1970';s and the residents turned out to the streets or halfway houses. I shudder to think what went on in of them. :(

If I ever get good enough to shoot videos one tenth as good as yours I have a few of these on my list. I';ve done a ham radio test from a closed facility in Medfield, MA the last two years. The buildings are not as grand as the ones in your vid  but the facility has close to 90 buildings situated on a few hundred acres. The state is trying to sell it but...

Very nice work!
