Lost model alarm?

With all the worry of a flyaway I';m looking at putting a lost model alarm on my 450 quad, theory being it will start bleeping on loss of signal.

I';ll also add my address to the frame somewhere with "REWARD IF FOUND & RETURNED" etc....

Couple of posts on hobbyking suggest the lost model alarms don';t work with some receivers?

Also, if my Quad is on an UAV flight, with waypoints that are outside the range of my radio, will this make it start bleeping too?

I have a Spektrum DX6i, with an AR6200 receiver and satellite.

I have a typical alarm on mine, hooked into the Aileron channel. If the stick isn';t moved for 60 seconds it sounds off. So for your use it would go off while in flight. That may not be such a bad thing :-)

This has saved my bacon a number of times: http://www.loc8tor.com/uk/loc8tor-pet-384.html?___store=ukview

It is very directional and has about 100m range. When activated the dongle on the quad starts beeping (albeit a bit softly) but the handheld unit beeps louder and louder as you get the direction right.

Last week it saved me from a crash in the Tuscan forests. Crash was about 300m from me in a ravine. As I got nearer the unit started beeping and blinking. Took me straight there. Would have been days of searching through thick forest undergrowth.

Well recommended.

Cheers,
Crispin
