Come on then you tinkerers, who';s got a Mamod steam engine?  Here';s a photo of my son';s engine with the accompanying steam powered workshop.  We';ve made a few steam powered meccano fun fair rides for it and powered some LEDs with it too :)  all good fun.

No Mamod. :hmm: I have a 1" scale Maxwell Hemmens fairground traction engine, a 1.5" scale Allchin and a steam powered Pilot cutter!

Wowsers, anti gravity!!!
Many years ago I used to build steam models from casting kits, they were lovely things wish I had never have sold them! Steam power is one of my real interests, something magical about it, almost like it';s alive!

I got involved with the full sized ones! Used to get up at 4AM to light them up on the NYMR (Moors Railway) but spend more time now on engineering type work! The 9F in my profile has just gone back in steam after a 9 month boiler overhaul, good fun!

We';re regular visitors at the Severn Valley railway, absolutely love it - been promising ourselves to do a round the country tour of steam railways for a while now but not yet got round to it!

The Moors is usually a good day out. Travel from Pickering to Whitby, 24 miles! The last 6 or so is a bit faster at 30MPH than the seemingly sedate 25 on the rest! Fish and chips in Whitby overlooking the harbour - magic!

I need to get up there with the hex and film some steam.... :hmm:

I have a couple of mamod';s - but not had them out since we moved. Will do so next weekend - thanks for reminding me!

I had a TEA1 Traction engine, it was just fab, a number of us kids used to race these engines down our street in the late 70';s in brum. What would heath and safety make of kids racing meths burning hot steam engines in a public place nower days, they would have an armed response team out lol

Wow! that Mamod engine in the first picture brings back some memories. I had the same model in my teens...which would make that around 50 years ago.
