Hi Roy you dont need the FTDI to connect the Cn06 Gps to a arduflyer you should get the correct lead for that with the arduflyer  ~~

But you do need to connect the Gps to a FTDI adapter to upload the 3dr config file to the Gps

Heres a link to an original sparkfun FTDI

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FTDI-Basic-Breakout-5V-SparkFun-Quick-UK-shipping-/151076725188?pt=UK_Computing_Other_Computing_Networking&hash=item232cdfe1c4

or a chinese alternative

You then need to make a lead that connects the gps to the ftdi if you got your gps with your arduflyer you wont have the lead to do this, the lead you need comes with the stand alone gps, it might be easier to get some one to load the config file for you  ~~

Thanks Gary
Just kept seeing posts re baud rates etc but I see these are for 3dr telemetry.
I have the stand alone gps. Might order rct version as the spec text is word for word the same and am in no rush.
Just got to solder the pins on the board now. Deep joy.
Thanks again
Roy
