Gemfan Carbon Reinforced Nylon Props

My 8x4.5 carbon reinforced props for my quad have arrived.  They are much stiffer than the plastic/abs that they';re replacing. I thought that I';d try these out before considering full on carbon fibre props.

I got these from a Canterbury-based (Kent) eBay seller, two pairs for £7

They are balanced out of the packet - I didn';t have to do a thing. But the hub had to be drilled out to accommodate my 5" prop adapters. A bit of a pain, that.

First flight with these tomorrow (Saturday) if the weather holds. I';d like to go out to a field - but otherwise it';ll be a tame run in the back garden.

His eBay store is here http://stores.ebay.co.uk/rc-needs?_trksid=p2047675.l2563

NB: I have no connection with the seller. Honest.

i also received a set of these today, do yours look like they had some sort of lacquer on part of the prop?

and the hubs were a bit rough looking where the prop joins on one side.

It is a bit hard to describe. Mine have a dull finish on both sides of the blade of the prop, while the 1" or so towards the hub is shiny. It looks as if they have been abraded with something - which may explain why they centre on my static balancer.

yer mine seemed to balance out quite nicely, the hubs were a little off but that';s it, i gave them a quick test earlier and they seemed fine

its a high carbon mix in the props as youll notice the edges and near the hubs are strengthened  alot..
are very good props though im very impressed with em so far..
dont grow up,just buy bigger toys!!!!

Just ordered some 9x4.7';s off him to see if I can get better flight times on 3S - will be interesting!
Peter King said that you can go up to 10x4.7 if needed and should get better flight times.

fruitsalad

they are just as good, using them on my naza quad, didnt have to balance em much either..
be in post to you monday...

I broked mine! Having a smashing time in the garden, it was a tad windy, I';d just flown the Teslaquad and decided to give these props a go in the F450.  Not doing to bad and then a massive gust of wind took it into the bushes - the carbon';s brittleness failed the test and two props shattered.  :o

A fresh set ordered for next week.

Oh, and for the short time that I flew them I have to say that the quad did seem to be a bit more stable and responsive.  It seems that there';s nothing quite like a bit of stiffness  ::)

... ... I';ll get me coat.

Tried my 9x4.7';s out just - balanced more or less spot on out of the packet and fly a treat very similar to the 8x4.5';s on 4S, less than 1/2 throttle to hover and excellent climb rate but best of all motors and esc';s cooler than on 4S and about a whole minute more flight time. Well pleased with them and no prizes for guessing what I';m using from now on.

good to hear,i use the 9" myself very impressed with em..
by the way just been restocked..
