Under rated Turnigy 3S 5000 30C

I was testing the power draw of my Tarot tethered to a picnic table. 50% throttle around 20A, full throttle (in Atti so limited) got up to 60A for a short time but all good. Ran the hex for a good while drawing around 10A to test the low voltage alarm. Eventually it started to go off when I throttled up a bit and back off again - normal.

Anyway, when it decided to come on continuously I called it a day. Off load voltage settled around 11V so not drained.

Put it on the charger (at 3A) and checked a while later to find that over 5300mA had been put back! This must be a seriously under rated Lipo!  ~~

Thought I';d share as Turnigy stuff has been getting a battery(ing) recently. BTW this isn';t the Nanotech version.

Personally I';ve never had a problem with turnigy blue packs. I';ve got some that have had over 100 cycles and they';re still going strong. NANOTECHS on the other hand are shite. Of the 4 I';ve owned 2 have never balanced right. 1 exploded and 1 lost two cells for no reason! Also they all puffed up slightly after the first few charges!

I have both types and the only one giving problems (unbalanced cells) is a Nanotech!

It was just the amazing capacity of this one. Assuming it was only just approaching the 80% discharge point I reckon the actual capacity of this one could be 6500-6800ma! It';s had a few cycles but I';d not really paid attention to the charge put in before, just the "Full" and the overall voltage! Will be looking more carefully in future!
:hmm:
