Hi

My first flight ended in tears and I broke a propeller  :o  In looking for a replacement I am struggling to find 3 blades.

If I decide to swap and go for 2 blades is there a minimum size blade I should be looking

my quadcopter is a x525

Thanks

Hi John
3 blade props arent as efficient as 2 blade props and 2 blade props are easier to balance,
what are the motors your using it will help to decide what props you need  ;)

For that quadcopter you'll be looking at between 8 and 10 inch props, depending on the motors you have fitted and the total weight of the aircraft.

Most people find 2 bladed props much easier to use than 3 for some reason.

Hi

Thanks for the quick replies

weight is approx 1KG and a little more if I add a GoPro on.

The motors are  XXD A2212 1000KV Brushless Motor

Thanks

These motors;

http://www.pyramidmodels.com/shop/product.php/1056/xxd_a2212_1000kv_brushless_motor_for_quadcopter_multicopter

Look quite similar to the rctimer motors a lot of people use;

http://www.rctimer.com/index.php?gOo=goods_details.dwt&goodsid=118&productname=

which are fine with 10 inch props. I am not 100% sure that the motors you have will be ok with 10 inch props or not though - the specification isn't identical.

You'll likely be best either with 9 or 10 inch props depending. Flyduino sell a good (cheap) standard of propeller;

http://flyduino.net/10x45-GF-reinforced-Propeller-Set-Green

http://flyduino.net/9x47-Propeller-Set-Orange-4-pcs-2-CW-and-2-CCW

Or you can look at APC branded props if you want to spend more money on something better. Cheap plastic props can cause problems with vibrations and often aren't worth the saving.

I would recommend the 10" props teslahed linked to above

Here are the specs for your motors given by rctimer which as Chris says are probably the same

Model:  2212-13
Motor size: Ф28*26mm
Shaft size: Ф3.175*37mm
Weight: 50g
KV(rpm/v): 1000
Max Power: 150W
Battery: 2-3Li-Po
Test Prop: 11x7/10x5
Ri(M Ω): 0.127
ESC(A): 30A

What esc's are you using and also what flight controller ?

I got my quad from pyramidmodels last week, but he has a notice on his site now saying that orders wont be processed till next week.  I have to contact him as the KK board that came is faulty.

I doubt the motors are only 10a and would sooner trust the rctimer specs for them,
have you set up your esc's using a programming card ? To turn off the auto cut off and brake, The default settings on esc's are not really very good for multi rotors and will cause a crash if the battery gets low and shuts the motors off

The Hobby wing programming cards are like the pictures below I have the lighter coloured one, which your welcome to try if you want  ~~
