Why is it called add on?
Do you install it the same as you did 2.8 R3? - Copy libraries into arduino, change correct parameters in arducopter.pde and upload?

yes it is just the same as the 2.8 file in the way you compile it through arduino

Its was called am add on as it is a separate group that developed it after development was stopped on the original

When you compile it make the ppm disabled and TX is set to mwii as the author set the code to his own  set up

mega pirate development for multi rotor stopped about april the guy that was doing it moved to the apm 2.5 board development
and yes it seems that the add ons is still being developed
quite a few people changed to multi wii after development stopped but i have never tried it

After tonight';s flights I am absolutely over the moon with r2.9 add ons  - my quad now flies like a dream and all my issues with rtl are gone.
You guessed, I';m with r2.9 add ons any day!

I tried to upgrade to ver 2.9.1b r8 - everything went smooth, acc/compass/tx calibration, when I give throttle the motors spool up and every few seconds 1 or 2 of my motors are reving up  full throttle for a split second (A very fast twitch). Did not try to fly it because it will certainly flipped - decreased pid`s to 0, erased eeprom, did esc calibration a few times, checked if my tx throttle are jumping around in mission planner, but nothing. Did 3 clean setups, erased eeprom/megapirate/arduino, reload everything and still the same. Went back to 2.8 r3 and no twitching.
Maybe a issue with my F-30A simonized esc`s and megapirate 2.9.1b r8

I think that r2.9 addons is only compatible with v1 & 1.1 FC';s, I';m not 100 % sure about that but do seem to remember someone saying that.

I run 291addons on crius v2.

I think that the problem here might be in vibration. Starting from 2.9 the vibration is critical.

Motors and props are balanced and fly well in 2.8 R3 with  alt hold/loiter/acro working great. I also thought that it may be vibration, but I increased my throttle trim so that the motors will just start - it`s so slow you can almost count the rotation of the props. And at that speed I can not even feel any vibration nowhere. Tried it with 10/20% til 50% throttle and every 4-6 seconds I got a motor twitch from 1 or 2 motors. I mean the vibration frequency will change from 1% - 50% throttle and I think so will the twitching as well, but that`s not happening - always 4-6 seconds.
