Hopefully we';ll see this in 3.1 - the great work by David Dewey on Spline Nav

SplineNav: 63 km/h Autopilot Tour of Chinese Lotus Pond

So here';s an example - blue is ';auto';, red is spline (2 loops in spline), all clockwise.

Auto vs Spline

Its certainly much smother, which means it maintains it speed better. Next up is increasing the speed to see if the promise of it holding altitude over speed comes true....

Oh, and next time, I will take an SD card for the go pro...  ::)

thats very nice, the future looks nice and rosie to me,Marty, :scotland:

Ok, so here we go - 2 laps of the quarry. 1st lap is in ';Auto';. 2nd lap is in Spline Nav - you can see that it follows a much smoother course, and keeps the speed up. For instance, shortly after the start - you can see the auto track leaves the little finger well to the left, whereas the spline nav follows a nice curve right over it.

Also keep an eye out for the spline nav as it starts the second loop - flies down a track below the height of the surrounding mounds. Was pretty worrying at first, but it flew it so predictably, I was happy to let it do it...

Note: Spline Nav is in place of CIRCLE mode - so when you see that mode in the OSD, its really in SplineNav...

Spline Nav testing

Marty McFly

Hi Rick pretty impressive that, really looking forward to it when it gets released, thank you,Marty.

Toledodave

Very nice and smooth transactions through waypoints.  I would have to guess you save a little Battery life too with consistant throttle through its mission and not ramping up and down RPM to adjust for sudden changes and turns :/

optiplex

looking good there rick
interesting feature ... hopw to see it getting better in the future
