I have done Dynamic Soaring in over 55mph, and quad flying in over 25mph with the right equipment.

UFO reports

I know more than a few hippy nutter types on facebook who are convinced that UFOs are real and we are being visited by advanced aliens who have been secretly guiding our civilisation for millenia by building pyramids with flying saucers or something :shrug:

One of them posted this very interesting video of a UFO spotted in Palmira Valle Colombia;

Now to me that looks pretty much exactly like a hexacopter with LEDs hovering about 200 meters up on GPS position hold. I did a bit of googling and found this guy;

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1721913&highlight=columbia

who appears to fly a hexacopter around Cartagena, Colombia, so i know there are hexacopters flying in the area but i haven't been able to pin it down any more than that.

Has anyone else got any videos or similar reports of people actually being taken in by quadcopters and thinking they were UFOs and freaking out?

I'd love to be able to debunk some of the better UFO reports.

For sake of comparison this guy's hexacopter with LEDs looks quite similar if slightly more impressive. If the first sighting does turn out to be extra terrestrials they need to try harder with their flashing lights!

Everything I've read about 'UFO' style flying disc quads says they perform much less well and weigh much more than a 'regular' multicopter. The only 2 advantages are appearance and safety - you could fly one indoors at a sci-fi expo without risking the general public, once you got some wire mesh over the fan ducts, and you'd certainly turn a few heads.
