The hardware has been designed in part by Timecope (Hamasaki) who designed the Naze32 32 bit version of the multiwii flight controller. He';s a bit of a hardware obsessive / snob so the chances are these ESCs are going to be quite good.

Any ESC flashed with the excellent SimonK firmware tends to perform well so i have high hopes for these ones.

And they come with LEDs!

Looks great.  About time the old traditional ESC was redesigned.

Not rushing out to buy any though.  Will wait till next year or til the ones I have burn out lol

I fancy trying them but I';ve just built the NAZAFLY with Turnigy 18A so it would just be wasteful but I would like to see what difference SimonK firmware would make to the handling, I';m still traumatised from my early setup flights when it would just wobble earthwards  :frantic: Flying quite well now so don';t want to mess.

But its soooo tempting

fs the afro ESC whats next, the hipster BEC?

preflashed with simonK, wonder what he gains from this commercial use of his firmware, nothing nae doot.
Point and click.

Monkey see, Monkey do.

Hobbyking claim that;

QuoteRoyalties paid on each unit sold to SimonK and Hamasaki for their design work, without which the Afro ESC would never have been born, thanks guys!

And ';Afrotech'; is one of timecops (Hamasaki';s) brand names.

So at this point i can only assume that everything is ok with all this stuff. Timecop usually speaks up if he feels hard done by so i';m sure we';ll hear about it if he gets screwed over...

looks nice and a reasonable price.  When/If I build a new quad I think I';ll definitely be looking at these

They could have chosen a better colour for the heat shrink. That nasty light green wont go with anything

Given that the thing comes with indicator LEDs i think the first thing i would do is replace the heatshrink with transparent stuff!

The ESC is good for troubleshooting , with leds and beeps you get more feedback than the standard controller ,
plus I2c and serial input !!!!

At the moment im using 30a multistar escs flashed with SimonK, would these work alongside them if I got a couple as spares?

peter_a

I killed one these , which I flashed with simonk .

So waiting for them to come out of back order in the u.k , But I don`t think I`ll mix and match , but get a complete set + one for my next multirotor
