HELP!!!!

Flying around the garden yesterday and I felt as if the controls of my NAZA GPS equipped F550 were a bit "woolly". Take of was fine but then it started drifting at some speed. I managed to land it but broke a couple of props as it hit a fence in the garden.

Took it out again this afternoon in a wide open place. Take off was fine. The machine got approx 50M away at a height of approx 10M, I let go of the sticks expecting it to come to an abrupt hover (as normal) but it didn';t  :o

I pulled full back stick to stop the machine and it slowed and started to come back towards me but I wasnt in control. The machine flew straight passed me. I switched to Atti but it made no difference. I managed to get the machine back down to earth and fortunately it "arrived" in some bracken. Undercarriage legs snapped and another broken prop but otherwise it seems fine.

Now these were the first flights since I have reconfigured the Hex to "X" from "+". I have moved the NAZA so that it points forward. I have conducted an IMU cal and recal';d the compass.

When I fly in close proximity it seems fine but as soon as I get more than a few metres away its a different story. I ve just completed a range check and it seems OK.

I';m lost now! Any ideas?

They should put a big arrow on the top of the GPS :hmm:
One circlip short of a quadcopter.

SEE the logical way would be for the cable to come out the BACK not the front, what gives, must be a reason for it.

Good idea Chris. I had a minor ';incident'; with one of my wife';s ornamental trees the other day. A 450 fitted with Naza. I replaced the broken prop, looked over everything else and took it back up. Just didn';t want to fly right. GPS hold was toilet bowling, things just felt ';wrong';.

Problem turned out to be the GPS. I drilled and tapped a grub screw to hold the bottom of the GPS shaft. The crash turned the GPS about 30 degrees. Pointed toward the front and everything is well again! A BIG arrow would maybe have caught my attention. It also makes you wonder why DJI doesn';t put an arrow on the FC either, it is kind of important  ::)

Jim, (digging out the sharpie now to start drawing arrows)
