Building my first FPV Sytem on a DJi F450

Hi Folks! I was just asking on the Forum, about moving up to a full FPV system, based on a budget, ( aren`t we all?) But as I am a Pensioner, on a never ending sliding scale, money is always a consideration. It`s not that I don`t have a bit to spare, I just want to make sure that it is spent on the right items. Ending up with a reliable system, that will all fit together, and work together. My F450 is all built and tested, with regards to it`s ESC`s and motors are all OK. It did have a KK2.0 FC, but always had a problem with getting it to ARM. now it wont do it at all. So, on recommendation, I have now bought a RCTimer APM, and also one of their telemetry sets. So at least that should all work together Ok? I do realise that there are still quite a few bits that are required? A 7" OSD from Ebay was one of them. Then it`s Video TX & Rx, a camera, Sony 600TL also, etc.etc. So what I need is a shopping list, based on your Guys past experiences, with regards to what works and what doesn`t. If the final bill comes to more than I am comfortable with, then I may just scrape up the extra, and go for a complete FatShark Dominator system, and just get it over with. Then if things go pear shaped for me, sometime in the future, then at least I can sell it all, and get some of my money back. So, many thanks in advance, for all and any advice. Ray   :beer2:

Hey Ray!

You mention the fatshark system, always worth a look in. Here';s some recommendations that should get the ball rolling towards getting your FPV system set up.

Here';s a link to the camera you suggest, £30. (I suggest you get the 2.8mm lens option, will give you a larger field of view.)
This is a nice 2 channel diversity monitor. £108 Would be great to have a skew planar antenna on there, but for the time being you can use the bundled antennas just fine.
Here is a transmitter that will work with the aforementioned monitor, £50

If you';re running this off your main lipo I suggest you look at getting a low cut filter and some ferrite rings to clean up the power signal to the video components, such as this one (£12 shipped) and if you';re not on a 3S battery you';ll also need something to regulate the current to feed the camera 12v (like this one, for £20)

An OSD is about £20, I suggest the minimOSD, but you can add this at a later date once you';re comfortable with your set up. All in all that puts you at about £240 including the OSD, although I haven';t factored shipping into the equation so you';re looking at dead on £250 I reckon.

Doing it far cheaper, look at the 10mw boscam equipment on hobbyking, you can get a 10mw tx and rx for $50. The range wont be a million miles, but should be capable of flying within 1km no problem. Change your monitor to one that just supports av input (which again will be cheaper off ebay - my guess is around £50 to £80 depending on spec).

Hope this helps!
I reverse polarities for fun.
