So put my hexa build on the back burner while I wait for a new ESC to come from HK as it';ll take a few weeks . Decided to get a cheap quad frame and strip the parts off the hexa so at least I';d have something to play with on my week off this week. So ordered a SK450 from HK UK, paid for next day delivery and it arrived this morning so all good. Spent a few hours and came up with this.

Checked it over and calibrated the ESC';s all the stuff you should do but the motors spun up gittered arounf a bit then died! Tried again, re did the ESC';s and the same, one didn';t even spin up. Looked at it for a while and eventually found I';d used mounting bolts that were too long for the motors and thinner mounts of the SK450. The bolts went in ok but bit into the windings so that';s 4 motors buggered! Thought I';d post this so other newbies don';t make the same mistake!

Oh, hell, how completely frustrating, and expensive  :banghead:

Nooooo. Gutted mate. My thoughts are with you and your motors.

I very nearly got caught with the exact same issue - I only noticed by accident that one motor felt as bit stiff when hand turning it and then saw the bolt touching the windings   :o :o  I was just lucky

I';m paranoid about it now ... checking and rechecking bolt lengths  ::)

I';ve knackered at least one motor this way. And it';s not the only unfortunate and expensive mistake I';ve made with this hobby. I';m getting better at fine soldering circuit board chips but there';s still a way to go before I';d describe myself as fully competent...

So i know the feeling :cry

Thanks for posting up a warning though!
