My only concern with your selection are the batteries. I think the C rating (15 C) is a bit weak. You want more like 30 to 60 C depending. The C rating represents a multiple of how quickly the battery can empty itself safely so a 1000mah battery (1amp hour) with a C rating of 50 could safely provide 50 amps for 1/50th of an hour (someone correct me here if I'm wrong please!). 2200mah at 15C = 33 amps max, which you could exceed with 4 motors pulling much more than 8 amps each (easily done).

The flight controller you've picked will work fine. MultiWii is great for people that enjoy technology and messing about with computers because it's open source and very configurable and performs well once properly setup - if stuff like that sounds like fun to you then you've picked the right flight controller (and hobby).

If you are more concerned with flying as quickly and easily as possible the new KK2 board has a screen and buttons and can be used without a computer or any knowledge of code, is cheap, and seems to work really well;

There are other options but i think MultiWii and KK2 are two of the better ones for anyone on a budget.

That's better you might just want to change the choice of lipo if they dont have the nano techs the normal zippy flight max 2200mah or the normal turnigy 2200mah will do its just the rctimer ones are a little low on the c rating like chris has pointed out, and I havent seen anyone using them yet  ~~

look on the HK site for 3s 2200mah UK or China

As with the control board, I still don't have a clue, especially about setting up, but that will no doubt be covered in the boards instructions - which knowing me I will have to dig back out of the bin!! That KK2 Board is now on my list.

Still unsure about the batteries though. What battery would you use on your quad if you were using my specs, bearing in mind you now have a £32 battery budget??  ;)

I have a similar charger only without the built in mains adapter - it works great, especially for the price.

Don't know if u were reading along but that's the radio i am thinking of buying next, especially if i can't fix my broken dx6i, so I'm hoping it will work well.

There are some more batteries to look at, in stock as well (not the UK warehouse though :-/).

Here is a video on the basic setup of the KK2 - you can see that it can be configured just using the built screen and buttons;

That looks like a full kit of parts to me  ~~ but just one thing I thought I might mention you have gone for a frame with all black arms, the reason a lot of people have one colour at the back and another at the front is to aid orientation, but not every one is the same and you may well be fine with all black  ~~
The list is much better gear than that in the original ebay one  ~~

I'm planning on adding a very high tech "Pingpong-Ball-On-A-Stick" to indicate the direction of travel! Now to start with the waiting!  :whistling:

OK my two cents (or pence) worth.

I can only speak of the KK+ board but when on a budget - it's good.  Dan from multircshop is very friendly and often throws in freebies .. like mounts, cables and the like if you ask him too.  Also replacements and support are useful.  The KK based board he uses is a good cheap option and with a MEMS upgrade, and Mike Barton's firmware, you can have autolevel.  Whilst it's not like a Naza, nor is the price.

It has gimble support but if you ever upgrade your firmware, there is a firmware solely for a gimble you can use your board for!

The board has a LVA alarm with either a buzzer or LEDS, and has a power distro board around the end of the controller.  an LCD is needed for configuration but this can be easier and there's no need to adjust pots.  Granted, PC hook up is great, unless you want to tweak at the field.

All in all, it's the only flight controller I've used but it's been good to me.  I even hooked up a servo wire wrong, with power and connected 5V to gnd.. thought I'd fried it (and I can't remember if I could smell something) but in any case - I had a "oh no, I was tired and fried my electronics" moments.  It still works perfectly to my knowledge :)

Flight controllers I would like to try myself.. Rabbit FC,  CopterControl3D (CC3D) and a NAZA (with GPS) .. As for availability and/or cost, it would probably get them in that order too!  I was happy with the support and help from Mike and Dan on RCG - there's a dedicated thread for it.. anyway, I liked it so much I bought another board and MEMS.

I've had that sick feeling when one of my water cooling loops leaked all over a brand new motherboard and graphics card. Luckily the only thing that was damaged was the graphics card, and I had the second one which I was going to SLI with. Oh well that's life...

If anyone needs advice on PC building or troubleshooting I'm your man! I'll pop some of my build pics/vids in the off topic section tomorrow.

Thanks again for all your advice and help today guys, can't wait till payday!! I have felt like I have been "Drinking from the fire hose" today with so much information getting stuffed into my tiny little brain, I do like to learn new stuff!

Good news everyone!!11!!one1!!!!
All my stuff has now been sent to me, I'm just waiting for the little Chinese slave kid to put his trainers on (which his younger brother made in the sweat shop next door) and run the parcels down to the airport!! I did pay for the cheapest post I could get away with so I'm not expecting any of my kit this week, or next week. Its just good news that the half price Turnigy 9X TX that I ordered from Hobby King is no longer on back order!

Cant wait to start building !!
