Need FPV!!

I just can';t bear not having FPV any more. The whole idea is just too damn good and having made a few videos with my gopro stuck on the front of my quad I find myself thinking this view is just so much cooler than straining my eyes to try and follow the rotation of the distant silhouette of my quad in an attempt to allow my brain to keep track of what way round it is(which it doesn';t always do very well....).
I think to start with with I';ll use my gopro as the camera (despite reading how they can shut down rather inconveniently but I';ll just make sure I keep well within visual range), score a cheap 7" screen from fleabay(I';ll see how much I like it before going the super pricey route of fancy goggles).
Then I will need some 5.8ghz stuff, I';ve searched long and hard on ebay and a 500mw transmitter and receiver are going to set me back getting on for £100 and take ages to get here(this upsets my impatient nature lol) or FirstPersonView.co.uk do a 600 mw immersion tx for £73 and an airwave receiver for about £36 and a gopro to tx cable for £12 which would all get here fast!
I know the immersion stuff is supposed  to be good but is the airwave receiver?

Hobby King have just started stocking the lawmate FPV gear in the 1.2 ghz at a great price

Thanks firey, I don';t think the frequencies they use are legal here in the uk.

Just ordered an immersionrc 600mw tx, the airwave reciever and a gopro cable.... :frantic:  FPV here I come!

JT

I';ve also just ordered this lcd screen to get me started  http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321106783572?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 . Now I just need to figure out how to power it all. Is a separate lipo better to power the tx? If so how big? And what to power the monitor and receiver with? I could use my car but that would be a bit restrictive on where I could go to sit/fly. What do others use?

JT

Got my tx and receiver today! The monitor hasn';t yet arrived but was posted 1st class signed for monday so should definitely be here tomorrow. I have just had a quick test using my tv and it all works, lots of lines but a clear visible picture. I walked the quad outside 40m from the house and the signal was still there(through a wall) so hopefully all is good.
I don';t know where to mount the tx though, there isn';t really anywhere on my f450 clone that isn';t near some sort of potential interference, ESC';s, power leads, receiver. I can fit it on the back of the bottom plate but then when its facing towards me the whole quad will be in the way of the antenna. Any advice would be greatly appreciated
