I have a couple of quads now so I figured id see what a tri is like to fly too. just ordered the simple tri copter (y config) from simplecopter.com. 3 Hobby King 30A ESC 3A UBEC esc';s and the hk flashing tool. I already have a usbasp but really don';t want to be messing with rigging the pins up being as last time I tried it on a redbrick esc I killed it. so took the easier, safer route.
I have some 1100 kv motors spare, not the best but should do the job for now and plenty of props. just need to get hold of another kk2 board. which may be easier said than done as apparently they are becoming rarer than hens teeth. I have 2 already on other quads so may pull one from one of them just to complete the build.

I will be using the kk flash tool software to flash the esc';s if I can find out which firmware I should be using. anyone know to save me having to search?

anyway, looking forward to it coming so I can get on with it. I hate waiting for things to arrive!

One of the club members at the club I fly at has one of his T Copters, absolutely a cracking model, flies very well and very aerobatic.
I';m torn between my own design T Copter and a V Tail Quad at the moment, both have their merits - I suppose cost wise the T makes the most sense, I';ve already got a KK2 FC but still undecided about materials and tilt mechanism for yaw.

A guide i wrote to flashing ESCs which may help you. It has lots of links including the useful document Happy-dave helpfully posted above.
One circlip short of a quadcopter.
1 lobe short of an antenna.

I got bored over the weekend and knocked this up.

It was originally supposed to be a bicopter but the KK2.0 seems to do real odd things so after a whole day pulling my hair out on Saturday, I made this on Sunday.

It flys completely different to the Y configuration.
